Miss Hall’s School’s fall production of Little Women, directed by Miss Hall’s Director of Theater and Dance Jennifer Jordan, was a moving and emotional experience that left audiences captivated from start to finish. Adapted by Kate Hamill, the play follows the four March sisters, Jo, Meg, Beth, and Amy, as they grow up during the Civil War, facing challenges, family responsibilities, and the struggles of growing up. This production captured the heart of the story with a seriousness and intensity that made it stand out.

The acting was outstanding and full of emotion. Fiona Gordon ’26 brought Jo March to life with energy, ambition, and honesty, making her struggles and dreams feel real. Meg, played by Avah DeBenedetto ’27, was warm and thoughtful, showing both the joys and responsibilities of being the oldest sister, while capturing an honest transition into motherhood. Beta Gu ’26 portrayed Beth with quiet vulnerability, creating some of the most touching moments in the play, with many tears being shed by the audience. Eleanor Jacobsen ’27’s Amy was lively, ambitious, and complex, rounding out the sisters with charm and depth. Together, they made the family relationships feel authentic and powerful, giving the story its emotional core.

The play itself was impressive in the way that it balanced tension, growth, and emotion. The serious tone reflected the challenges the sisters faced, emphasizing themes of love, loss, family, and ambition. Each scene was carefully staged to highlight the emotional stakes, making the audience feel the impact of the character’s experiences. The story flowed naturally, and the audience could follow the sisters’ journeys without losing sight of the bigger picture.

The set looked polished and helped support the story without distracting from it. Simple yet effective staging allowed the focus to remain on the incredible cast, while lighting helped emphasize mood and transitions throughout the play.

Overall, Miss Hall’s version of Little Women was a powerful and unforgettable performance. The combination of emotional storytelling, outstanding acting, and solid staging brought Louisa May Alcott’s classic story to life in a way that was both serious and moving. It was a production that truly honored the novel while showing the talent and dedication of the students and creative team. Congratulations to all tech and cast for an outstanding performance.
