College Counseling

Preparing for College

Our approach to college counseling is centered on establishing a partnership. Students take the lead in the college research process, and parents are key advisors to their daughters in the multitude of decisions that need to be made about college choices.

The College Counseling office provides the organization and the plan for bringing everyone together, thus ensuring that the process is efficient and thorough and that everyone is working as a team.

Miss Hall's graduates attend small colleges and large universities in rural areas and big cities. Most of our graduates stay at their first-choice school for all four years, which means they made the right choice.

College Counseling at MHS
The main job of college counselors is to get to know their students and learn as much as possible about the higher education opportunities and career pathways in the U.S. and globally.
We help students develop self-awareness of their own strengths and interests, understand options, and guide them forward into higher education and life beyond Miss Hall's School.
The Director of College Counseling works in partnership with the Director of Academic Counseling, Sarah Virden, who is also a college counselor. Ms. Virden begins meeting with students as early as 9th grade to develop a comprehensive academic plan with future college options in mind.
