Your Personal Team

Your Personal Team

We hear it over and over again, from girls who live right down the road and from girls who live halfway around the world: “The first time I visited, I immediately felt part of the community.” It’s true, you will feel that way, and it doesn’t take long after walking through the front door. But the experience goes far beyond a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Miss Hall’s is a school where you will make connections — with students and adults — that will change your life. We call these individuals members of your "Personal Team." These teachers, advisors, and student leaders will be your most enthusiastic advocates.

Advisors

The Advising Program is an important part of life at Miss Hall’s School. Every student has a faculty advisor who is available as a personal and academic mentor, and advisors also serve as liaisons with other members of the faculty and administration.

Additionally, students gather with other girls in their grade and their class advisors. Day student advisors are available to assist day students.

The advisor-student and advisor-parent relationships can be critical factors in the MHS experience. For a girl, the advisor can play a key role in helping her navigate the high school experience. For parents, the advisor can be a powerful partner in loco parentis. Find out more about the advisor-parent relationship here.

Resident Faculty

The three dormitories on the Miss Hall's campus have resident faculty members who live in the halls. These hall parents, along with the Proctor who is assigned to the hall, are the "go-to" people. They oversee all aspects of dorm life — serving as mentors, providing guidance and support — and ensure each girl is happy, healthy, and finding her way at School. Together with other adults who are always around, they make the dorm a home-away-from-home for boarding students. Hall parents get together with the girls on a regular basis. There may be a specific issue to discuss, or the meeting might be more general in nature. Either way, these regular meetings provide everyone a forum where her voice can be heard.

Big Sisters

Big Sisters are students who volunteer to play an important role in the life of a new student at Miss Hall’s School. Whether acting as friends, mentors, or role models, Big Sisters make the transition to MHS smoother and are an integral presence in the life of new students. Big Sisters play an important leadership role in the School community, and both students and faculty rely on these students. Watch the video.

Proctors

Proctors are seniors who take on special leadership roles in MHS dormitory life. Chosen each spring from the rising senior class, these girls are counselors, role models, and friends to new and returning students adjusting to life at school. They also manage much of the everyday routines and make the campus a home-away-from-home for younger girls.

Health Services

The Health Services Department at Miss Hall's School provides quality health care that is effective, culturally sensitive, and responsive to the diverse and changing needs of students and community members so that all may enjoy a safe and healthy environment and be confident and comfortable in accessing the services available. With three nurses and a counselor, girls always have access to the care they need.
