Convocation at Miss Hall’s School is an annual event designed to celebrate the start of the new school year. The formal event features speeches given by students who speak on behalf of their class, and it is an honor to be selected to speak at this event before the School community and family members.
The Miss Hall’s Theme Committee guides the process for selecting each year’s topic and theme and announces the theme before students depart for summer vacation. This year’s Convocation Theme was “Advocacy,” and students were prompted to reflect on how they are driven toward advancing a certain cause. They were asked, “What does it take to be an advocate and to inspire others to join a cause?” They were also invited to share a moment when they practiced self-advocacy or were inspired to champion an idea and to share a unique experience about their advocacy journey.
During this year’s Convocation on Fall Family Weekend in October, Nikky Abreu ’19, Megan Gong ’21, Lulu Nwachukwu ’18, and Ayla Wallace ’20 delivered addresses on behalf of their classes, and Head of School Julia Heaton also addressed the MHS community.
