Poet and educator Tyree Daye recently visited Miss Hall’s, sharing some of his work with the MHS community and hosting a poetry-writing workshop for students and adults.
Mr. Daye, a poet from Youngsville, North Carolina, has been living and working in the Berkshires as part of the Amy Clampitt Residency in nearby Lenox. At Community Meeting, he read several poems from his book, River Hymns, which won the 2017 American Poetry Review/Honickman First Book Prize.
Later that afternoon, Mr. Daye hosted a dynamic and interactive poetry-writing workshop, attended by about a dozen students and faculty. As he led participants through a variety exercises, Mr. Daye shared insights into the creative process and encouraged participants to share their work as a part of that process.
Thank you to Mr. Daye for taking the time to visit Miss Hall’s and to English Teacher Emily Pulfer-Terino ’97 for arranging the visit.
