Congratulations to Lin (Vivian) Hou ’18 and Elizabeth (Libby) Tagliaferro ’18, who have been named Commended Students in the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program.
The designation means that Vivian and Libby placed among the top 5 percent of the approximately 1.6 million students who entered the 2018 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, according to the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, which conducts the program. The designation recognizes Vivian and Libby’s academic promise and their exceptional performances on the 2016 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, or PSAT/NMSQT.
In addition to their academic achievements, both Vivian and Libby are active members of the MHS community. Libby is an Admission Ambassador and Gold Team Captain for the Athletic Association. She is also a Captain of the varsity soccer team.
Vivian is an Admission Ambassador, Proctor, and President of the School’s International Student Alliance (ISA). She is a leader of the School’s Cooking and Science clubs, is a Science and Math Peer Tutor, and is a member of the Science Bowl team and Hall’s is for Animals (HIFA).
