Student musicians have the opportunity to perform in Music Ensembles organized by the Music Department. With a full year's participation in an ensemble, students have the opportunity to earn one-half academic credit. A musical ensemble is a group who perform instrumental or vocal music, with the ensemble typically known by a distinct name. Some music ensembles consist solely of instruments, such as the jazz quartet or the orchestra. Some music ensembles consist solely of singers, such as choirs and doo-wop groups.
Miss Hall's School school offers classical chamber ensembles of various sizes, rock bands that perform a range of styles, a jazz ensemble that is a combo style of music featuring improvisation and a ukulele ensemble.

Grace Notes is a student-selected and student-directed a cappella group that sings popular and classical songs. Membership, which is determined by the group, happens in the spring. View a Grace Notes performance.
The Vocal Ensemble is a singing group open to all students. The group performs at a number of school events and participates in a coordinated concert each winter with other area venues.
Private Music Instruction
Miss Hall's offers more than 60 scheduled music lessons each week.
Private instruction is offered in voice, instruments, music technology, and music theory/composition/ear training.
Students also have the option of taking the lesson as a for-credit course. Lesson fees vary with the instructor. A signed parental permission slip is required for all students taking lessons.
