AP EXAMS SUCCESS

7/27/2010
MHS students again performed exceptionally well on the annual Advanced Placement (AP) Exams taken in May.

MHS students again performed exceptionally well on the annual Advanced Placement (AP) Exams taken in May.

This year, 67 students sat for 122 exams—a record number for the School—in 11 subjects taught at MHS. Of those exams, 84 percent received qualifying scores, i.e., scores of 3 or better on the exam’s 5-point grading system, according to the College Board, which oversees the AP program. In fact, 60 percent of this year’s exams earned the highest scores of 4 or 5, and 100 percent of the students taking exams in European History, Human Geography, and French Language earned qualifying scores.

The annual AP exams are offered at the conclusion of rigorous, college-level courses. Students who score at 3 or better on the exams have the opportunity to earn credit and/or advanced standing at many of the nation's colleges and universities.

“We are, once again, proud of the girls’ strong performances across the board on these challenging exams,” said Jenny Chandler, Dean of Academics and Faculty. “These results demonstrate the rigor of our academic program, the abilities and ambitions of our students, and the dedication of our faculty to prepare students for these exams during the course of the year.”

Congratulations, girls!
