IF YOU ARE TAKING A DIGITAL PHOTO:
Set the camera to use the highest resolution that your camera allows. The typical default setting produces a photo of 72 dpi at actual size, or less than a quarter of the resolution required for a printing press. NOTE: once a photo has been taken digitally, you cannot increase its resolution.
IF YOU ARE SCANNING A PRINT:
For best results, scan the photo in black & white mode, at actual size (100%), at 300 dpi. NOTE: if the original print is smaller than a standard 3x5, then it should be scanned at a size greater than 100%; as a rule, bigger is better than smaller. The scan may be saved as an EPS, TIFF, or JPEG.
PRINT: Send your black and white or color print, along with photo description to: Alumnae Office Miss Hall's School PO Box 1166 Pittsfield, MA 01202-1166 Be sure to let us know if you would like the photo returned.
