April 2013
Dear Parents and Grandparents,
I hope this letter finds you and your family well and that you all enjoyed some quality time together during the March break. If you are like me, one of the joys of school break is appreciating the growth and development of your daughter (or granddaughter) as she takes on new challenges, makes adjustments, and pushes herself to new heights at one of the most critical, vulnerable, and hopeful times of her life. My wife, Lucy, and I feel grateful that Cate has spent her high school years in a community of girls with the guidance, role modeling, and teaching by such fine adults at Miss Hall’s School. That’s why we make our annual gift to the School.
As Chair of this year’s Parents’ Fund, I am writing to ask you to join us in giving to the 2012-2013 Fund for MHS. To date, we have raised $63,000 toward our goal of $80,000. With your support this year, we hope to reach our goal and break a participation record. To help propel us forward toward the finish line, a generous parent offered a $10,000 challenge to all parents. She will match dollar-for-dollar all new gifts from parents that are received during the month of April. In other words, your April contribution to The Fund will have double the value for MHS.
Each gift a parent or grandparent makes to The Fund demonstrates confidence in the School and conveys gratitude to the faculty, while supporting the costs of the programs not covered by tuition. Gifts have ranged from $10, $25, $50, and $100, to $1,000+; all gifts support our daughters. I invite you to join with others to meet the April challenge and help this year’s Fund achieve its goal.
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Tuck Barclay (Cate ’13)
Chair, Parents’ Fund Committee
P.S. As an expression of gratitude all 2012-2013 Parents’ Fund gifts will be recognized by class on signage in the front hall during Family Weekend. See the list of parent and grandparent donors
